1 1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tbsp.. cornstarch
2 tbsp.. flour
Salt
2 eggs (yolk & whites separated)
2 cups milk
Vanilla & butter

Directions:
Directions:
Separate egg yolks— use yolk for filling and whites meringue on top.
Heat in double boiler 1 1/2 cups milk, add the other 1/2 to the beaten egg yolks.
Mix sugar, starch, and flour, salt.
Add milk and beaten egg yolks.
Add to hot milk stir to keep from lumping.
Cook until fairly thick, add 1 tsp. vanilla and a generous lump of butter.
Cook a few minutes longer, let cool in boiler a few minutes and then pour in baked pie crust.
Add meringue if desired and brown in oven 350º for a few minutes (about 5 or so).
