1 c. moong dal
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
2-3 cloves crushed garlic
5 cussy leaves
1 inch of crushed, fresh ginger
1 tomato, chopped
1/4 tsp. tumeric powder
2 green chilies, cut lengthwise (heat according to taste)
1 tsp. salt
1 small bunch of cilantro, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse the lentils and put in a pot with 2 c. of water on medium heat. Slowly add all the spices, adding the tomato last. Once the lentils are soft and of the desired consistency, take the pot off the heat. Add the chopped cilantro and add more salt, if needed. Serve with rice.

Serves 6. All ingredients can be bought at Indian supermarkets.
