1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 stick margarine

Directions:
Cream the margarine and sugar together. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Sift the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture gradually, alternating with the syrup and vanilla. Pour batter in a greased pan. You can use 1 (9x13 inch) pan or two 8-inch square pans. Bake at 350º degrees until done, about 30 minutes.

While cake is baking, combine the filling ingredients (all except vanilla) in a medium saucepan. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add the vanilla and mix well.

Pour filling over cake while warm.
