6 oz good semi sweet chocolate (coarsely chopped)
1/2 c. unsalted butter (room temp)
6 tbs. light brown sugar
1 egg beaten
7 tbs. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/3c. rolled oats
1/2 tsp vanilla
chopped nuts optional

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter, add sugar. Gradually add egg. Beat for one minute. Sift flour with baking powder, stir into mixture. Add oats and vanilla. When combined add chocolate and nuts. Spoon onto baking sheets. Lightly flatten the mounds. Bake 350º for 12-15 minutes. Cool on sheets for one minute then transfer to a wire rack.
