1 cup soft oleo
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon salt
red food color

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening, egg, sugar and flavors. Stir in flour, salt. Divide dough (or you can make a second batch for the two colors). Add red food color to 1/2 of dough. Roll 1 teaspoon each color (red and white) about 4 inch long. Place strips side by side and twist into candy cane. Bake 9 minutes at 375º. Can sprinkle with red sugar before baking. Handle carefully.
