2 c. raisins

1 c. boiling water

1 c. shortening

2 c. sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

4 c. flour

1 tsp. bkg. powder

1 tsp. bkg. soda

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/4 tsp. allspice

1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Combine water and raisins over medium heat and bring to a boil. Lower heat and cook 5 minutes. Cool. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add cooled raisin mixture and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheets and bake at 400 for 10 - 12 minutes.
