1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup milk
1 cup halved fresh cranberries

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar until light & fluffy. Add egg, beating until thoroughly mixed. Sift together flour, baking powder & salt. Stir the vanilla into the milk. Add dry ingredients alternating with the milk, mixing well after each addition. Fold in halved cranberries. Pour into greased 8 X 8 cake pan. Sprinkle with sugar & bake in 350⁰ oven 50 – 60 minutes or until crust is golden brown & toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
