1 3-lb chicken, cut up
1 quart water
4 large carrots, pared, cut in 1/2'' rounds
4 stalks celery, cut in 1/2'' slices
1 onion, chopped
2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
3 tsp chicken bouillon
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup flour

Dumplings:
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp dried parsley
3/4 cup milk
3 Tbsp butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot, place chicken, water, vegetables, and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30-60 minutes, until chicken is cooked. Skim fat. Remove chicken from broth, cool slightly, and remove from bones. Cut in bite-size pieces. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter and flour. Stir in 1 cup of the hot chicken broth. Mix well. Add to remaining broth and vegetables. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add cut-up chicken. For dumplings, stir together dry ingredients, add milk and butter and stir gently to form a dough. Drop by spoonfuls into hot soup. Simmer on low heat, covered, 10-15 minutes.
