2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. white sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 t. nutmeg
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. oil
1 c. buttermilk
1 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven at 350º F. Mix flour, sugar, nutmeg, salt and oil in a bowl.
Save 3/4 cup of the mixture; mix with walnuts; set aside for topping. To what is left of first mixture add: buttermilk, baking soda, baking powder and egg. and mix well. Pour batter into two well greased 8x8 pans or one 9x13 pan. Sprinkle the topping mixture on top of batter. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

I like to add some berries like blueberries, raspberries, and/or blackberries to the topping mixture.
