2 T. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 c. mashed bananas
3 c. flour
3 1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts - optional

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, shortening, and egg thoroughly. Stir in milk and bananas.
Shift together flour, baking powder and salt, then stir in. Blend in nuts.
Pour into well greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Let stand 30 minutes before baking. Bake at 350ºF for about 70 minutes or until tooth pick stick into center come out clear.
