2/3 c. Crisco
¼ tsp. baking powder
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 ¼ tsp. baking soda
3 eggs
1 tsp. salt
2 ¼ c. Cake flour
1 1/3 c. water
2/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease well and flour 2 round layer pans.
Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs until fluffy. Beat 5 minutes high speed on mixer or by hand. Sift dry ingredients together and mix in alternately with water and vanilla. Use low speed on mixer. Pour into prepared pans. Bake layers about 35 minutes, oblong 40 to 45 minutes. Cool. Frost with favorite icing.
