2 CUPS SUGAR
12 EGG YOLKS
2 ORANGES JUICE AND RIND
1 LBS PECANS CHOPPED MED
6 ZWIEBACK COOKIES
1/2 TSP EA CINNAMON, NUTMEG AND CLOVE
PINCH OF SALT
2 TSP BAKING POWDER

CREAM 3/4 LB BUTTER WITH 2 CUPS SUGAR. ADD 12 EGG YOLKS, 2 AT A TIME, CREAMING THEM INTO MIX, WELL. ADD GRATED RIND AND JUICE OF 2 ORANGES AND 1 LB OF PECANS CHOPPED IN MED SIZE PIECES. CRUSH 6 OZ OF ZWIEBACK AND BLEND WITH 1/2 TSP EACH OF CINNAMON, NUTMEG AND CLOVE AND A PINCH OF SALT. COMBINE DRY INGREDIENTS WITH CREAMED MIXTURE. ADD 2 TSP BAKING POWDER. BEAT 12 FOLD INTO MIXTURE. POUR BATTER INTO BUTTERED 18X12X12 PAN AND BAKE APPROX 40 MIN IN 350 º OVEN OR TILL TOOTH PICK INSERTED, COMES OUT CLEAN AND DRY. 2O MIN AFTER CAKE IS REMOVED FROM OVEN TOP WITH WARM SYRUP.

SYRUP

COMBINE; 2 CUP. SUGAR; CUP WATER 1 TBSP LEMON JUICE. BRING TO A BOIL; UNTIL SUGAR DISSOLVES AND MIXTURE THICKEN SLIGHTLY. REMOVE FROM STOVE AND ADD 1 TBSP APRICOT LIQUEUR. POUR OVER WARM CAKE. CAN BE SERVED WARM, OR CHILLED AND TOPPED WITH WHIP CREAM
