1 28 oz. can Italian-style tomatoes
1 16 oz. can peeled tomatoes
2 8 oz. cans stewed tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 T. Oregano
2 6 oz. cans tomato paste
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
2 lbs. ground meat (beef, pork, turkey or combination)
Olive oil if meat is too dry
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
2 garlic cloves
1 12 oz. pkg. lasagna noodles
3/4 lb. cottage cheese
1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese
1 cup Parmesan cheese

Simmer first 6 ingredients in uncovered pan. Salt cold frying pan with the 1/2 tsp. salt. Put meat into pan, crumble and (add olive oil if meat is too dry) then add onions and garlic. Add tomatoes to meat mixture and simmer for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Cook the noodles according to pkg. directions. Cover the bottom of the baking dish with one third of the sauce. Place 1/2 of the lasagna noodles crosswise over the bottom layer of sauce. Cover the layer of noodles with half the cottage cheese, half the Mozzarella, and 1/3 of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat, ending up with a layer of sauce on top. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake at 350 º until bubbly (approx. 30-40 minutes). Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
