Ingredients:  
2 c sugar
1 c lard (1/2 c butter and 1/2 c butter Crisco)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 - 5 c flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
dash of salt
1 c sour milk ( or 1/2 milk and 1/2 half and half with 1 T vinegar to sour)

Icing:
3 c powder sugar
1/3 c butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 T half & half

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and lard. Mix in eggs, sour milk and vanilla. Sift about 3 c of flour with soda, baking powder and salt. Mix well with eggs, milk, etc. Add enough remaining flour to stiffen dough. Chill till firm. Roll out on floured board and cut with a cookie cutter. Bake at 375º for 12-14 mins.
Done when just starting to turn brown.

Icing: Blend butter and powdered sugar, add milk and vanilla and mix well.
