1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 c Crisco
2 eggs
1 1/4 c flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
3 c oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
Cream white sugar, brown sugar, and Crisco thoroughly. Add eggs, flour, soda, vanilla, salt, and oatmeal. Mix well. Form into small balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12 minutes. Cool slightly before moving to cutting board.

I found this recipe in a small free recipe booklet I got from Quaker Oats early in our marriage. I have made them hundreds of times, and they are always a hit. Options are nuts, coconut, or raisins.
