1 package Gruenkern soup(can be found in Pomegranate)
Marrow bones and/or soup meat
1 large onion
1 qt water(for soaking)
salt to taste

soak kernels over night
dice onion and sautee' with meat
add to to soaked kernels, add water if necessary
add salt or other spice if needed and cook for approx. 1-1 1/2 hrs. simmer over night.

This has been the traditional recipe in Oma and Opas house - it was served on Shabbos day instead of our traditional chulent. It is delicious! You can add carrots or potatoes(Omas recipe did not include carrots or potatoes and she only added salt)
