2-1 oz. squares, Unsweetened Chocolate
1/3 C. Shortening
1 C. Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
3/4 C. Flour
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 C. Walnuts, chopped

Frosting:
1-1/2 Tbsp. Shortening
1-1/2-1 oz. squares, Unsweetened Chocolate
1 C. Powdered Sugar
1/8 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
2-1/2 Tbsp. Milk

Brownies:
Preheat oven to 350º. Melt chocolate and shortening in a saucepan. Remove from heat and let cool (or you will scramble the eggs). Mix sugar, eggs and vanilla in a separate bowl and stir in chocolate mixture. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Fold in chopped nuts. Spread ingredients in a greased 8" x 8" x 2" pan. Bake 30-35 minutes, until brownies just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool.

Frosting:
Melt shortening and chocolate in a saucepan, remove from heat. Mix powdered sugar, salt, vanilla and milk together. Blend in chocolate mixture and beat until smooth. Frost brownies, spread frosting evenly. Cut into 2-inch squares.
