3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Whisk together first three ingredients in large saucepan. Gradually whisk in milk and cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly 10-12 minutes. Whisk egg yolk until slightly thickened. Gradually whisk about 1 cup of hot cream into yolk, return to cream mixture, whisking constantly. Add vanilla. Cool 1 hour, stirring occasionally, then chill over night. Churn in ice cream maker until thickened. Makes about 1 quart.
