3 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. soda
2 T. hot water
1 1/2 c. nuts chopped
4 eggs
1 pkg semi sweet choc chips
5 1/2 c. regular oats

Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Dissolve soda in hot water and add to creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Drop by spoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 375º for 10 minutes.
