Pear French Toast Recipe

loaf French bread, sliced 1 1/2-inch thick
8 eggs
3 1/2 c milk
1/2 c sugar
1 T vanilla
6-8 pears (or apples) peeled & sliced

1 T cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/3 c sugar

2 T butter

Spray 9 X 13 inch casserole pan with Pam.
Place bread in pan, fitting snugly.
In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar & vanilla.
In small bowl, mix cinnamon, nutmeg, & sugar. Add half of mixture to pears & toss gently.
Add half of mixture to egg mixture.
Pour half of egg mixture over bread. Cover bread with pears, then pour remaining egg mixture over pears. Dot with butter. Cover with foil & refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350º. Bake uncovered for 1 hour.

Make half recipe in a 8 X 8 inch pan. Pepperidge Farm twin French loaf works well.
