1/2 c snipped dried cherries (or raisins, craisins)
2 c flour
3 T brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c butter
1 tsp orange zest
1 8-oz package sour cream
1 beaten egg yolk

Glaze:
1 c powdered sugar
1 T orange juice, or more as needed
1/4 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 400º.
Put cherries in small bowl. Cover with bowling water. Let stand 5 minutes, then drain well.
Stir flour, sugar, powder, soda & salt in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender, until it resembles coarse crumbs. Toss with drained cherries & orange zest. Make a well in center of mixture.
In small bowl stir together sour cream & egg yolk, Add to dry ingredients all at once, stirring with a fork just until moistened.
Turn dough onto floured surface. Kneed gently 10-12 times.
Pat dough into a 7-inch circle. Cut into 12 wedges. Place wedges on ungreased baking sheet 1 inch apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden. Remove to wire rack.
Mix glaze, adding orange juice to achieve drizzling consistency. Drizzle scones with glaze & serve warm.
