4 oz butter
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c sour cream
2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 T lemon zest
1 c cherry preserves (10-oz jar)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Butter two 8-inch cake pans.
Beat butter with sugar until fluffy Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add sour cream and mix thoroughly.
Combine dry ingredients, then add to butter mixture. Batter will be stiff.
Stir in vanilla, zest & cherry preserves.
Spread batter in pans. Bake 30-35 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
