2 c. flour
3 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3/4/tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water
1/4 c. Crisco
1/4 c. Mazola Oil
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Grease & flour a 8x8 baking pan. Mix all dry ingredients. In separate bowl, cream shortening, oil and sugar. Add egg and beat until fluffy. Beat in molasses. Mis boiling water with baking soda in a glass measuring cup. Blend wet and dry ingredients in thirds, adding 1/3 of the hot water mixture at the end of each third. Don't beat once all ingredients are mixed in. Bake at 350º for 35-50 minutes.
