3 T. flour
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 lb. round steak
1/4 c. shortening
2 c. chopped or sliced onion
1 16 oz. can whole or stewed tomatoes
1 c. grated Mexican blend or colby cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Two hours before serving, preheat oven to 350º (an electric skillet or crock works well).
Combine flour, salt, chili powder and pepper. Trim fat and remove bone from meat, sprinkle with flour mixture, pound mixture into meat. Cut steak into serving size pieces. Brown both sides of meat in a large skillet; remove; brown onions. Stir in remaining flour mixture. In a large, shallow casserole, spoon onion mixture. Arrange steaks on top, then add tomatoes and liquid. Cover and bake 1 1/2 hrs. (In crockpot, cook 6 hrs.) Sprinkle steaks with cheese and heat until cheese melts. Serves 6
