1/2 cup plus 1 tbls butter
2 cups sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup molasses
2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp garlic cloves
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 tbls milk

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, heat 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy
Beat in egg and molasses
Sift dry ingredient together and add gradually
Chill dough at least 1 hour
On a flour board roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness
Cut in round and poinsettia shapes
Bake on greased cookie sheet for 6 minutes at 375º
For frosting - mix remaining sugar, butter and milk
Spread over round cookies
Place poinsettia shapes on top
Place a half cherry in center with a bit of icing on cut side of cherry
