1 ½ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp grated lemon peel
1 egg
1 cup blueberries
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp grated lemon peel

Directions:
Directions:
In bowl mix together flour, baking powder, salt and ¾ cup sugar. Add shortening, milk, vanilla and ½ tsp lemon peel. Beat with mixer at medium speed for 3 minutes.
Add egg and beat for 2 more minutes.
Put into greased 8 inch square pan.

Stir together blueberries, 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp lemon peel. Sprinkle over batter in pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly in pan and cut in squares and serve warm.
