1 lb split peas, rinsed
1 ham bone (optional, but yummy)
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 quarts water (or chicken broth if not using a ham bone)

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients into a crock pot. Cover and cook on high for 8-10 hours on low or until peas are very soft. Remove ham bone and bay leaf (but cut any ham bits off of the bone and put them in the soup). Salt and pepper to taste.
