3/4 c of margarine or butter
13/4 c of all-purpose flour
1 c of packed brown sugar
1/2 c of sugar
1 egg
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of vanilla
1/4 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp of ground cloves (optional)
2 c of rolled oats

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375*F. In a mixing bowl beat margarine or butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half the flour, the brown sugar, sugar, egg, baking powder,vanilla, and the baking soda. If desired, stir in in cinnamon and cloves. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in the oats.
Drop by rounded tsp 2 in apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in the 375*F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or till edges are golden. Cool cookies on a wired rack.
