Ingredients:  
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
2 c. peeled and grated apples
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. flour

Topping:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. broken nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg. Mix well. Add apples, then stir in dry ingredients. Pour into grease and floured oblong pan.

Mix topping. Sprinkle topping over top of cake. Bake at 350º for 35 - 40 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
