Ingredients:  
1 pound fresh asparagus
or 1 can asparagus
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. corn starch + small amount of cold water
2 tsp. butter
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan except corn starch. Bring to a boil and then simmer. Combine cold water and corn starch. Add to mixture and stir. Serve over toast.

Mom used to wait for May to come so she could go out to Mrs. Hinckley's and get fresh asparagus. Then she made Creamed Asparagus on Toast. It was always a delight to anticipate tasting the first asparagus of the season.
