1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
3/4 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups firm packed brown sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups uncooked oats
nuts, chocolate chips, raisins, coconut as desired

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt, soda, and set aside. Cream together shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla. Blend in flour mixture, oats, nuts etc.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes on greased cookie sheets.
