3/4 lb. (3 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
4 cups sifted all purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Beat butter until creamy. Beat in sugar until light and thick. Mix in flour. Knead dough on floured board until smooth and forms ball that breaks slightly. Divide in half. Put 1/2 on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with palm of hand spreading dough over the bottom of the cookie sheet. (about 1/4" thick)

Cut dough into strips about 1" wide and 3" long. Prick surface to prevent blistering during baking. Bake until pale brown around edges. (About 15 minutes). Cool slightly. Remove with spatula.

Store in airtight container or place in freezer bags and seal. Best aged in a cool place. Stays fresh for weeks.
