1½ cup of baking molasses
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup of milk and a few drops of vinegar
3 tablespoons of vinegar
5 cups of flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon ginger
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon allspice

Directions:
Knead onto floured table surface. When dough no longer sticks to your fingers, spoon mixture onto to lightly greased baking pan. If too much flour is used the cookies will not be of a soft consistency

Bake in 400° degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes, you will know when they are done when you touch them and they spring back.
