Ingredients:  
1/2 cup of poppy seeds -- add 8 tbsp rum. Cover container.

Let stand at least 12 hours and then add 3 tablespoons of rum (at end off 12 hours).

1 tsp vanilla
2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter (room temperature)
7 large eggs*

1½ cups flour
2 heaping tsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt

Cream butter with sugar (add sugar slowly).

Add egg yolks* one at a time to creamed mixture then add vanilla.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in separate bowl.

Beat whites in separate bowl until peaked.

To creamed mixture beat in flour, poppy seeds alternately, start and end with flour,

Then fold in egg whites* to above.

Bake in round bundt pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

Done when cake tester comes out clean.
