1/2 cup butter
1 cup icing sugar
2 cups flour
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp almond flavouring
1 tsp. salt
food coloring
approximately 2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp peppermint flavouring

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and icing sugar together. Add egg and mix.

2. Add flour, vanilla, almond and salt. Cool.

3. Divide mixture into equal parts and add desired food coloring. I leave one plain, one red and one green.

4. Make each color into 3/4 inch balls. Roll each ball into about 4 inch long string. Roll 3 different colored strings together lengthwise.

5. Add mint to granulated sugar and put onto a plate. Roll the candy cane string in the sugar.

6. Place the strings on ungreased cookie sheet and crook end to make the canes.

7. Bake at 375º for 9 minutes.
