1 1/2 cups each flour and oatmeal,
1 1/2 cups brown sugar,
1/2 tsp. salt,
3/4 cup butter,
1 egg,

Pumpkin filling:

3/4 cup brown sugar,
3 eggs,
3 cups c pumpkin ( 1 large can)
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon,
3/4 tsp. each ginger and nutmeg,
1 cup evaporated milk (1 small can) 160 ml.

Topping:

1 1/2 cup reserved oatmeal mixture from base.

In medium bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, sugar and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs: stir in egg.
Measure 1 1/2 cups of the oatmeal mixture; set aside for topping.
Pat remaining oatmeal mixture into base of 13 X 9 pan. Bake in 350 F. for 20 minutes or until golden and firm.

Pumpkin filling:
In medium bowl, beat together sugar and eggs. Beat in pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Beat in milk. pour over base.

Topping:
In small bowl, combine the reserved oatmeal mixture and nuts. Sprinkle over pumjpkin filling.
Bake in 350 F. 30 minutes or until centre is set.
Let cool in pan overnight before cutting into squares.
