Praline mixture:
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1/3 c. flour
1/4 c. butter, melted
Apple Filling:
2/3 c. sugar
3 T. flour
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. lemon juice
Dash of salt
6 c. (2 1/4 lbs.) apples, peeled and thinly sliced
10 caramels, cut in half
Pie dough (to equal a 9-inch deep dish pie and top crust)

Praline mixture: Combine brown sugar, pecans, 1/4 c flour and melted butter. Mix well and set aside.
Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, lemon juice and salt. Add the apples and toss to coat. Transfer half of apple mixture to a deep dish, 9-inch, pastry-lined pie plate. Top with half of praline mixture. Top with all of the caramels. Repeat layers of apples and praline mixture. Add top crust, cut slits and trim 1/2 inch beyond edge of pie plate. Fold top pastry under bottom pastry, fluting edge. Cover edge with foil. Bake in 375º oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil. Bake 20 minutes more or until top is golden.
