1½ cups flour
1½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. allspice
¼ tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. salt
2 large eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup plus 3 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

-- Topping --
1 tbsp. sugar
¼ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. allspice
¼ tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°. Grease muffin pan. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, spices, and salt in a bowl. In a small bowl, stir together topping ingredients.

Whisk together eggs and sugar in a large bowl, then add butter, a little at a time, whisking until mixture is creamy. Stir in applesauce, then fold in flour mixture until just moistened. Stir in nuts. Spoon into muffin cups. Sprinkle Topping on muffins. Bake about 18 minutes. Remove & let cool.
