1 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. brandy
Opt. flavoring: pinch of nutmeg
Opt flavoring: juice and grated rind of 1/2 lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter until fluffy. Slowly add sugar and beat well. Add egg yolk, brandy and flavorings and beat until well mixed. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

If your Losey Plum Pudding Sauce has failed, take heart! This plum pudding sauce - from Polly's side of the family - is much easier, and was the original match to the pudding recipe in this cookbook anyway. Being a "hard" sauce, it has the odd trait of being hard until it touches the warm pudding, at which point it begins to melt into a liquid.
