1 small onion, minced
3 cloves minced garlic
1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup ketchup
1 to 3 drops of red food coloring (optional)
2 Tbsp fresh peeled chopped ginger root
1 cup honey
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Stir over medium-high heat until it boils. Continue boiling until the mixture has thickened a bit. Baste on both side of chicken or pork the last 10 to 15 minutes of cooking. (Not from the beginning-it will likely burn more than you'd like.) Serve with rice and stir-fried vegetables for an authentic taste.
