Mom's Caramels Recipe

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. dark corn syrup
1/2 c. butter
1 c. light cream, divided
1/2 c. black walnuts, broken or lightly chopped
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and 1/2 c. cream. in a medium pan.
Bring to boil, stirring constantly!
Add remaining 1/2 c. cream and cook slowly to very hardball stage, about 260º. Remove from heat and add nut meats and vanilla.
Pour into greased 8 inch square pan.
When cooled cut into 1 inch squares and wrap in wax paper.
Place in airtight container and store in cool place.
