1 c. sugar
2 1/2 tbsp. butter
3 eggs, beaten until light
1 c. milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 - 4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and add 1/2 of the sugar.
Mix remaining sugar with beaten eggs.
Combine mixtures.
Add milk.
Add 3 1/2 c. flour, sifted with baking powder and spices.
Work in well and continue to add flour to make dough to a good rolling consistency.
Cut and deep fry.

Grama made these delicate, irresistible treats for us at Pine City and it was almost impossible to wait until the doughnuts cooled sufficiently to eat, resulting in the occasional burnt finger and singed tongue.
