Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) margarine, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 package (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate pieces

CHOCOLATE COATING:
1 package (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate pieces
1/4 c. margarine

2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Beat together margarine, sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl until well mixed. Blend in flour and salt. Stir in chocolate pieces. Shape dough on lightly floured surface into logs (2x1/2-inch). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until cookies are set and lightly brown on bottom. Cool on wire racks. Dip ends of cookies into Chocolate Coating; roll ends in finely chopped nuts. Place on racks to set.

CHOCOLATE COATING:
Melt together 1 package (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate pieces and 1/4 cup margarine in top of double boiler over hot water (do not let the water boil); stir until blended and smooth. If mixture is too thick, add more margarine, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it is good coating consistency.

Alternatively, you can place the chocolate chips (margarine not necessary) in the microwave on high for 30 minutes at a time, until the chocolate is melted; stirring in between 30 minute intervals.
