1 c. shredded carrots
2 c. shredded cabbage
2 c. shredded potatoes
1 onion, chopped
1 can (796 ml) crushed tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Put beets and carrots in large pot. Cover with water. Bring to boil, add onion, garlic and vinegar. Simmer until beets and carrots are tender. Add potatoes. Continue to simmer (approximately 15 minutes) until potatoes are tender. Add cabbage, dill, salt and pepper. Simmer until cabbage is tender (about 15 minutes). Add vegetable broth. Also, you may want to add water, depending on the consistency you like. Add crushed tomatoes. Prior to serving, add cream, or you can add sour cream to each bowl. Season to taste: I use garlic pepper, garlic plus, vegetta.
Sometimes I use boiled spareribs or a ham bone instead of broth.
