2 turnips
1/4 c. whipping cream
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 c. thinly sliced and peeled apples
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

TOPPING:
1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter


Directions:
Directions:
Peel and cube turnips and cook in pot of salted water until tender, about 45 min. Drain well. With potato masher, mash turnips; mix in cream, butter, salt and pepper. Spread 1/2 mixture into an 8X8, greased casserole. Arrange 1/2 the apples on top. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Repeat turnip and apple layer.
For topping: In bowl, combine flour with sugar; cut in butter. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake, uncovered at 350º for about 1 hr. or until apples are tender. Makes about 8 servings.
