Personal Notes:
Polly's most famous casserole without a doubt! It comes from a cookbook Annie Mellencamp gave her, Be Milwaukee's Guest, and is sometimes called Milwaukee Casserole. The grandkids have loved this recipe over the years, and Polly always tries to make it for Emily when she visits.
Note: browning beef in butter is a relic of the 50s, consider it optional. Adding the V8, Grama's suggestion, makes a more moist dish. Some family members, who shall go unnamed, add vastly greater amounts of the good stuff: cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc.
