1 1b. lean ground beef
8 cups water
2 onions
3 carrots
3 potatoes
3 celery stalks
2½ cups tomato juice
2 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. thyme
black pepper, and
tabasco to taste

Directions:
Directions:
In a very large stock pot add ground beef to water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for ½ hour. While meat is simmering cut up vegetables in bite size pieces. Break up meat with a spoon. Add the veggies, tomato juice and spices and simmer for another ½ - 1 hour. Season with more pepper or tobasco.

You can substitue ½-1 cup of barley for the potatoes.
