2 corn tortillas
Oil for frying
2 tsp. vegetable oil
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup canned chopped green chiles
4 large lime slices
4 cups chicken broth
1 cup shredded chicken
salt
1 tomato (chopped)
1 tsp. lime juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cut the tortillas into 2 X 1/2 strips.
Pour oil for frying 1/2 inch deep into a small saucepan or skillet. Heat the oil to º365. Fry the tortilla strips in hot oil until browned and crisp. Drain onto paper towels.
Heat 2 tsp. vegetable oil in a large sauce pan. Add the onions and chiles. Saute until the onion is tender, but not browned.
Add broth, chicken and salt to taste.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Add tomato, simmer another 5 minutes.
Stir in the lime juice.
Taste and add more lime juice or salt if needed.
To serve ladle soup into bowls and add some fried tortilla strips to the top. Float a lime slice in the center of each serving.

This soup was served at El Taco Loco in New Hope. It was one of the best soups I ever ate and when on the menu I would always order it. Finally I asked for the recipe one day, ask and you shall receive!
