4 c sugar
2 c milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c butter or margarine
1 tsp vanilla extract
a few drops of almond extract
4 oz jar red candied cherries, halved
4 oz jar green candies cherries, halved
1/2 c toasted almonds, slivered

Directions:
Directions:
In lg saucepan combine sugar, milk & salt.

Heat over medium heat until all sugar has dissolved & mixture comes to a boil. Cook over medium heat until the soft ball stage (233º on a candy thermometer, Remove from heat.

Stir in butter, vanilla & almond extracts.

Allow to cool slightly, then beat until mixture is creamy & begins to lose gloss.

Pour into a greased 8 x 8 x 2" pan.

Cut into 1" squares while still warm.
