3 c flour
1/2 t salt
1 c shortening
1 egg yolk
1/2 c milk
Filling:
6 c apples, sliced and peeled
1 1/2 c sugar
1/4 c butter, melted
2 T flour
1 t ground cinnamon
Glaze:
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1/2 c powdered sugar
2-3 t water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour and salt, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg yolk and milk and add to flour mixture. Stir just until dough clings together. Divide dough in half. On lightly floured surface, roll half of dough into 15x10" rectangle. Set aside. Toss together filling ingredients and spoon over pastry in pan. Roll out second half of dough and place over filling. Brush with egg whites. Bake at 375 40 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Combine glaze and drizzle over warm pastry.
